Dustin Cowden was born and raised in West Des Moines, Iowa. Dustin graduated from high school in 2008. Afterward, he immediately enlisted as an Army Infantryman and was deployed to Iraq. He broke his back twice and had to be medically discharged from the army. He tried going to traditional college but was unable to pay attention and was uninterested. He needed something he could do with his hands. His friend and idol, Jordan Peterson, who is the owner of Paramount Barber Co, gave him some advice regarding his path. The next day, Dustin had signed up for barber school.
In barber school, Dustin found that he excelled at "gentleman style" haircuts. He won a few competitions in school and had an apprenticeship at a local barbershop. Since graduating in 2017, Dustin had found a strong love for "classic cuts". He loves doing haircuts and styles that you would see a modern man wearing in a pub in the 60s; slick back, executive contour, pompadour, etc. Overly texturized gentleman's haircuts are Dustin's specialty!
